Fr. Al went to the Philippines in 1983 to receive the Ramon Magsaysay Award for International Understanding given for his outstanding services for the abandoned youth, sick, agend, and the poor in Korea. On this occasion he met His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin who invited him to establish his charity program in the Philippines.

In 1985, Fr. Al with three Korean sisters started working in the Philippines by establishing the Boystown and Girlstown Complex in the Archdiocese of Manila. In 1990, His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal invited Fr. Al to extend his Boystown and Girlstown program in Cebu. To date, there are five (5) Complexes in the Philippines that accommodate an average of 12,000 indigent young boys and girls. These students are provided gratuitously with food, clothing, shelter, quality high school education with intensive vocational training. Girlstown: Industrial Sewing Machine Operation, Stenotyping and Bookkeeping, Electronics, Culinary Arts and Basic Computer Systems; Boystown: Electricity and Electronics, Machine Shop and Welding, Automechanics and Driving, Computer Technology, and Mechanical Processes.

The Sisters assist them to find jobs for them to become self-reliant and be of help to their families. More than 30,000 have graduated from these programs.
